About the Role

  • Full Time (negotiable), Permanent Position
  • Classification: Senior Management and Specialist Remuneration Level 1 with a salary range of $103,522 - $121,425 per annum + Superannuation

About your new role

The Lived Experience Participation and Inclusion Lead (LEPIL) is an exciting new national role within Neami. The LEPIL role will guide Neami’s strategic approach to diversity and inclusion, Lived Experience perspective, and consumer and carer participation. This role will connect in with and build upon wider transformational work within Neami.

Positioned within the Design, Participation, and Inclusion (DPI) team, the LEPIL role will report to the Senior Manager DPI and:

  • Provide thought-leadership and practical ways to guide Neami’s approach to diversity and inclusion.
  • Provide thought-leadership to embed Lived Experience perspective into organisational strategy, solutions, and opportunities.
  • Create strategies, frameworks and pathways for authentic consumer and carer voice and participation.
  • Provide high-level consultation to ensure Neami is centring people, diversity of perspective, and current research to inform organisational activities.
  • Support the building of Lived Experience Leadership by identifying further positions to progress organisational change and development.

The LEPIL will bring strong relational skills to work with a wide range of stakeholders around a shared vision and pathway for action. Alongside relationships with organisational leadership, the LEPIL will oversee designated Lived Experience positions and offer a space of mutuality and reciprocity for other designated Lived Experience roles in non-service delivery spaces.

What will you bring to the role

  • Have a lived or living experience of mental health distress, challenge, and wellbeing journey, and demonstrated ability to apply learnings as your primary knowledge and practice approach.
  • A deep understanding of the Lived Experience lens and experience contributing this as your primary perspective in a role, program, system, or consultation setting.
  • Sound knowledge of the Consumer Movement and Consumer Participation pathways/programs.
  • Strong understanding of diversity and inclusion principles, values, and actions.
  • Experience in the end-to-end delivery of projects, strategies, and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring, consultation and supporting continuous improvement.
