Your role within the business
ESSA is after a passionate Assistant Manager who wants to take the next step of their career.
This role will give you the experience to take the next steps into Operations and Business Management. You will become one of the faces of the business, touching every table and getting to know all the regulars and locals.
Phil Marchant, our Chef/Owner is very hands on and creative. You will be expected to work alongside him and the restaurant manager to help execute his ideas, as well as adding your own to the mix.
The role is one where you can take charge and create an experience with your own personal touches. All while being supported by the restaurant manager, owners, and the team around you.
You will lead, train and work alongside a small team. It is a service driven role, so you will be expected to get in there with the rest of the team and be quite hands on.
Strong wine knowledge is heavily preferred!
The ideal candidate
Passion for great food, wine and service is essentially what we are looking for. You have hopefully had some beautiful meals at great restaurants here in Australia and abroad and taken in the experiences to the fullest. You will need to be someone who is a fast thinker and able to adapt to change. For personality, we are looking for someone who’s warm and welcoming. You need to make the guests from all walks feel comfortable and want to come back repeatedly.
Responsibilities
These responsibilities are all shared and supported by the restaurant manager:
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the venue including opening and closing.
- Ensuring the dining and service areas are tidy and kept up to cleanliness standards.
- Assisting with cash, stock, and labour control.
- Managing reservations via both email and phone.
- Handling reviews both in person during service times and online via various platforms.
- Supporting the restaurant manager with various tasks if unable to work or taking leave.
