Job Description

Universal Biosensors (UBI) is a world leading, publicly listed Australian company (ASX:UBI) which develops, manufactures and sells biosensors for use in several industries around the world. Our biosensor technology has been used in more than 10 billion measurements for blood glucose monitoring and blood coagulation in diabetes and coagulation patients worldwide. Most recently, we have added SENTIA and PETRACKR to our product stable for the wine and veterinary industry respectively. In addition, we continue to develop new applications for our technology within human health and food amp; agriculture.

We are looking for an experienced internal auditor to join our team at our HQ in Melbourne on a part-time basis (equivalent to one week or 38 hours a month). This position is an essential part of our Governance structure in evaluating and assuring our internal controls over the financial reporting of the Company.

The ideal candidate will come with experiences gained in a Tier 1 or 2 audit firm, i.e. familiar with audit practices and requirements. The role will consist of (but not limited to) the following activities:-

  • Conduct and report on quarterly internal audits of entity-wide and business process controls as approved by the Audit Committee.
  • Review and recommend procedure updates to address control gaps (if any) and/or evolve controls in line with company growth, inc. consider best practice internal controls (where appropriate).
  • Co-ordinate with external auditors to enable optimum synergy between internal and external audit works conducted, minimizing total cost and time outlay in the overall audit compliance of the Company.
  • Stay current with COSO requirements to maintain SoX compliance (UBI is US-registered and ASX-listed)
  • Adhoc audit/review of active projects, as directed.

Requirements

In addition to Tertiary qualification in Audit and/or Accounting (or similar), our ideal candidate is CA/CPA qualified with the following skills and experiences are considered essentials in this role:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experiences gained in audit firms
  • Familiarity working with controls framework similar to COSO
  • Strong understanding of audit methodology and requirements
  • Able to provide well-articulated exception reports for audit outcomes

  • Attention to detail and good communication skills.
