The Position

Melba has an opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to lead and manage a cluster of NDIS funded Supported Independent Living (SIL) services across the Mornington Peninsula to support people to live a fabulous life. This is a key management position reporting to the General Manager Outcomes for the Southern Region and will provide leadership to a group of House Supervisors to ensure the delivery of quality disability services. You will be considered a specialist in the provision of disability services to support people with disabilities across their Lifecyle and in all aspects of their life.

What You’ll Do

Lead service development and promote service excellence to enhance opportunities for people with disabilities to achieve their full potential
Provide coaching, support, and advice on complex client needs, service delivery issues, and critical incident response
Ensure all financial, legal and operational documentation is maintained and monitored for continuous improvement processes.
Lead staff planning and functioning across multiple areas; recruitment, roster development, performance management and enhancing staff capability
Provide proactive leadership in the implementation, monitoring, and review of safeguarding practices
Lead and mentor decision making by staff who are managing teams supporting people with disabilities, within specified policies and practice standards
Contribute to records on people with disabilities at a programmatic or systems level and assist staff with more complex reporting issues
Identify areas of improvement and lead and implement change in staff practice

Must hold an Advanced Diploma in Disability or Community Sector Management, Degree in Applied Science (Disability) or equivalent
Specialised and contemporary understanding of disability and an ability to apply this theoretical knowledge to client support
Strong understanding of person-centred active support, positive behaviour support, human rights and zero tolerance and its implementation within a diverse team
Understanding and familiarity with NDIS funding and planning processes
Recognised experience and knowledge in the field of disability and ability to apply policies and processes to meet challenges of known or evolving disability support situations
Knowledge of and skill with coaching, supervision, and planning practices
Demonstrated experience in leadership, mentoring and leading change
A collaborative and committed approach to partnerships supporting best outcomes for people supported
Strong Creative and lateral approaches to thinking and problem-solving
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with supported people, families, Melba staff and management and external bodies supported by your high level written and verbal communication skills
High level organisational and time management skills with a proven ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work autonomously
