Job Description
The Squiz product team is working to deliver a cloud-based digital experience platform (DXP). A core concept of our DXP is content management provided by our Matrix CMS, a much-loved CMS used by hundreds of large clients around the world.
We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to step up to a team lead role with possibly a passion for content authoring and management to join our Content Management team on a permanent basis, with a focus on decomposing the Matrix CMS into new modern content management services.
This role will suit someone who understands the role initially will have some PHP/React focus as we modernise our tech stack, thus experience/exposure and an interest to move to a Typescript/React/Node/AWS stack over time will make you suitable. Must be comfortable dipping into the old code base (PHP).
You’ll be working alongside other developers who’ve been part of the making Matrix what it is today, and helping to modernise the content management feature set by extracting concepts from the core CMS codebase, migrating them to our modern
development stack, and reincorporating them into the CMS UI.
You will also work collaboratively with some great engineers in other areas such as our Platform and SRE teams to make sure our content management services perform and scale well.
We’re location-flexible! This role is open to all candidates on the east coast of Australia.
What will you do?
- Modernise page building and content authoring in our DXP
- Build new content management features and improve the usability of existing ones
- Lift features out of the existing CMS codebase and into our modern development stack
- Contribute to decisions around feature deprecations and help plan work to minimise their impact on our customer base
- Work across both backend and frontend code bases
- Participate in agile ceremonies including standups, sprint planning, and showcases
- Write and maintain technical software documentation.
- A mix of greenfield and brownfield
What do you need?
- Commercial experience building and maintaining PHP applications ideally with a React frontend
- Commercial experience building and maintaining JavaScript applications (Node/React)
- FullStack experience with a strength in the backend
- Exposure to building or using either dedicated-backend or public APIs
- Experience working with relational databases would be highly beneficial
- Experience working with TypeScript would be beneficial
- Familiarity with AWS services (API Gateway, Lambda, S3, SQS) would be beneficial
