Job Description

Our purpose

Here at Datacom we connect people and technology in order to solve challenges, create opportunities and discover new possibilities for the communities we live in.

About the Role

As Practice Lead - Portfolio Management you’ll be responsible for establishing effective Portfolio Management practices and working with the Datacom AU PMO to embed these into processes that are then used to manage the portfolios across all the Datacom AU customers and capability domains. You’ll also lead and manage a team of Portfolio Managers.

Please note that, at times, you may also work as a Portfolio Manager in addition to this leadership role.

This is a position that can be based at any of our Datacom offices across Australia.

What you’ll do

As Practice Lead Portfolio Management you will:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Portfolio Managers, contributing to their development and success
  • Provide a single point of contact for all portfolio components relating to the governance of Programs and Projects
  • Establishing best practice portfolio management methods to coordinate multiple streams or projects to represent a single view of the portfolio including high level status (RAG), financials and dependencies
  • Work collaboratively with the Datacom AU PMO to ensure the governance of Risk within all portfolios
  • Play a critical role in awareness and monitoring of dependencies between the customer goals, Datacom goals and contractual obligations and will understand and facilitate the priorities of both
  • Provide governance support and be a point of escalation to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time, within budget and with the desired outcomes aligned to objectives.
  • Actively participate in the pre-sales process for new Managed Services account bids.

What you’ll bring

You’ll bring extensive IT project portfolio management experience and have an exceptional grasp of project governance framework. You will be passionate about effective program management, people leadership and achieving a successful outcome for all parties across the project lifecycle. Your stakeholder management and communication skills will be second to none; and you’ll have experience working across large organisations and solving complex issues.
