The Finance team at Marley Spoon is growing and we are now looking for a passionate Junior Finance Analyst to support the business in analysing, forecasting and improving our financial performance, providing best-in-class financial data and analysis.

The position is critical in developing the analytics and reporting to make the right, fact-based decisions to move the business forward. The position identifies trends and provides insight into ways to achieve strategy execution. It is a full time permanent position based at our Sydney, Alexandria Office. The position will report into the Finance Manager.

Your role:

  • Support the finance team in variable cost bucket analysis, making sure that we are meeting our targets and identifying ways to improve our financial performance.
  • Drive analytics to identify financial gaps and provide solutions to improve processes
  • Provide support to other functions (Sourcing, Culinary, Logistics, HR, marketing) for their financial analysis. Additionally, you will collaborate with the other departments to identify and realise opportunities to lower costs and increase sales.
  • Work across our data tools to report our financial performance. Research and build a strong knowledge of analytics tools to become an expert.
  • Influence key stakeholders to deliver impactful change by communicating the trends and influence decisions through the data.
  • Work on sensitivity analysis and business cases that will improve the financial health of the business.
  • Work with the Australian Group Controller on inventory reconciliation and other related inventory processes
  • Help deliver monthly and quarterly business reviews, including visually presenting financial analysis, for review with the global leadership team.

Requirements

Experience and skills required:

  • Successfully completed a university degree in Finance, Accounting and/or Business or similar qualifications (essential)
  • 1-4 years of relevant work experience (including internships)
  • Good academic results
  • Excellent analytical skills, including strong attention to detail
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, data analysis skills such as Python or SQL are a plus
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, loves identifying opportunities and getting things done
  • Able to work independently and function in larger teams
  • Positive go-getter attitude and continuous improvement mindset
  • Energetic, results driven and team player
  • Hands on, roll up your sleeves and get into the details attitude
  • Ability to cope effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
