About Us
The Ghan is one of Australia’s iconic train journeys, travelling through the heart of the Australian outback from Adelaide to Darwin. The Ghan stops twice per week in Coober Pedy, as such we have a team of passionate Coach Drivers to take our guests on a tour of our spirited outback town.
The Nuts and Bolts
As a Coach Driver, you are critical to the smooth operation and for ensuring guests safely arrive at their destination for off-train excursions or arrive back to the train for their onward journey. You are the face of The Ghan for our guests. You’re not just the Coach driver, you’re actively driving engagement with your guests as you tell them all about the townships and areas they are travelling through. You take pride in what you do and will make sure your personal presentation and your Coach is presented to the highest of standards and safety is your priority.
The Fundamentals
Of course, you are a qualified Bus/Coach driver and have a valid South Australian Driver's license as well as an SP Industry Driver's License and LC Driver's License. You will have a Working with Children (Employment) clearance and you will be subject to a Driver's License History Report and national criminal history check. Ideally, you will also have a Senior First Aid Certificate however we can help you with this one!
Whilst you will be based in Adelaide, your primary work location will be either Cooper Peedy or supporting the Great Southern journey on a roster basis. We would love you to have had previous experience doing something similar in the tourism and transport industry and importantly, experience with day tours. Either way, you are eager to join our team and showcase your skills.
