Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists to join and lead the Protein Chemistry Ramp;D Division plasma fractionation company Aegros Ltd, located in Macquarie Park, Sydney. You will apply high-level protein chemistry skills to the advanced manufacturing of therapeutic products derived from plasma and other sources, in addition to technology and IP development. As Head of the Ramp;D Protein Chemistry Divisionyou will lead a team of scientists in developing a pipeline of new therapeutic products, as well as driving commercialization. This role will report to the Chief Scientific and Technology Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the ‘Production’ and ‘Quality Control’ Departments.
  • Provide effective and inspiring leadership, management, vision, and approaches to ensure proper operational controls and administrative and reporting procedures.
  • Ensure all activities and operations comply with local regulations and business operations laws.
  • Provide strategic Ramp;D leadership within the Protein Chemistry Division and ensure effective planning, innovation, and communication to achieve scientific research amp; development objectives.
  • Establish, manage, and deliver development and commercial projects to defined requirements.
  • Lead strategic planning and help shape corporate strategy as it pertains to Ramp;D.
  • Ensure product/process development is maintained per the GMP and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in managing the company’s intellectual property portfolio and develop effective IP strategies aligned with the Company’s business objective.
  • Direct leadership of Ramp;D projects with internal and external collaborators, including planning, work schedules, project coordination, resource, and budget management.
  • Project management of all aspects of defined programs, such as planning, budgeting, staffing, and project delivery.
  • Act as the contact person for technical interactions with relevant parties to ensure project outcomes are clearly understood and delivered.
  • Project planning, including literature research, market research, technology updates, and project risk assessments.
  • As required, represent the company on scientific and technical matters at the company at trade shows and conferences globally.
  • Ensure the Company’s Protein Chemistry laboratory is functioning efficiently.
  • Contribute to SOP development and validation.
  • Ensure compliance with all GLP/quality requirements and training records.
  • Identify development needs, provide training and support and professional development activities, and regularly review training effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements applicable to the company per State/Federal Regulations and any applicable certification required to maintain the certification.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. aligned with protein chemistry, backed with demonstrated expertise in an industry or academic environment.
  • Past experience mentoring students or guiding an Ramp;D team in an industrial setting is essential.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills complemented by excellent communication skills.
  • Minimum ten years work experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical/medical industry as either a Scientific Director, Product Leader, Vice President Research and development other relevant Science related roles
  • Experience working with the advanced manufacturing of biologics (e.g.therapeutic antibodies and plasma proteins) is desirable.
  • Experience in core analytical technologies associated with protein analyses is essential.
