Job Description

Fronditha Care is a not-for-profit organisation providing unique, culturally and linguistically diverse services, offering residential and support services to elderly people of predominantly Greek speaking background in Victoria and multilingual background in New South Wales.

Fronditha Care aims to ensure the elderly are able to live in a residential facility and be supported by those who share their language, history, religious values, attitudes, rituals, celebrations, music and food.

An exciting new opportunity exists for an experienced Maintenance Officer to join a successful and committed team at the Fronditha Care Newcastle Residential Facility.


The Role

You will be required to attend to all preventative and corrective maintenance schedules of our Residential Aged Care Facility. Some of the responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Monitor and control supplies and equipment
  • Oversee and coordinate any required contractors working on site
  • Purchase and maintain materials, stores and provisions as required
  • Undertake repair and cleaning work of plant and equipment as per manufacturers’ guidelines
  • Ensure day to day running of all maintenance requirements at the facility such as general repairs, waste removal, test and tagging.

Requirements

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for a motivated hands-on individual who is proactive in assessing maintenance needs and can communicate and work with other team members and also individuals.

If you are an all-round handyman with skills and an eye for detail these are some of the traits that you should have as you will be required to coordinate the day to day maintenance works of the Residential Aged Care Facility. A trade qualification and Greek language skills are desirable but not essential.

You will also need to liaise with external contractors and other trades people and must have good organisational skills. Good interpersonal and communication skills as well as a current Drivers License and access to a fully insured vehicle are essential.

You should also have a strong understanding and applied knowledge of Occupational Health amp; Safety requirements.

The successful applicant will also be required to undergo a current police check.
