About the role

You’ll be a guest in someone’s home and no two days will be the same. You’ll support people each day in the way they want or need to be supported. It’s not about doing things for people; it’s about providing just enough support at just the right time to help them do things. It’s their fabulous life after all.

Requirements

You might be already working in disabilities, studying, working in retail, hospitality, a trade or customer service. Maybe you haven’t worked for a while - no problem.

Melba Support Services knows that great team members come in all shapes and sizes, from all kinds of backgrounds, with all kinds of experience. Our team are as diverse as the people they serve so don’t count yourself out.

Our shifts are flexible and we have the following available round the clock: morning, afternoon, evening, and overnight. So we can fit in with your commitments. We have permanent, part-time and casual shifts available;

What you’ll do

  • Help with all aspects of daily living from getting up in the morning to going to bed at night
  • You’ll promote personal choice and control for the person, empowering them along the way
  • Helping people maintain their dignity while you assist with personal hygiene, showers, etc
  • Assist with household duties such as cleaning, cooking, and washing
  • Aid people to get to their chosen activities like social events, work, and appointments

You’ll have

  • A passion for enabling and working with people from all walks of life
  • Desire for meaningful work and comfortable providing people with daily living support
  • Willingness to learn new skills, undertake ongoing training and be part of a team
  • Service industry experience or mindset encouraged to apply eg tourism, hospitality, retail
  • A current drivers’ license with P platers welcome. Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
  • Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
