Act for Peace (AfP) is the International Aid and Development Agency of the National Council of Churches in Australia and works with church-based partners throughout the Pacific, Asia and Africa. Act for Peace has been working with the Tonga National Council of Churches (TNCC) to implement Disaster Risk Management programs since 2009. The Inclusive Disaster Resilience in Tonga (IDRIT) Project, implemented from May 2020 to January 2023 by the Tonga National Council of Churches and Act for Peace, aimed to achieve the goal of reduced protection risks and increased resilience of vulnerable Tongan communities in remote areas, including people with disabilities, to the impacts of natural disasters.
This final project evaluation is commissioned by Act for Peace, in liaison with TNCC, to provide an evidence-based assessment of project performance for accountability purposes and engage key stakeholders in a process of reflection and learning to build upon project successes in future programming.
It is expected that the evaluator will engage TNCC, project stakeholders and participants to collect primary data to supplement existing secondary data and findings from project reflection exercises including the Mid-Term Review. A final evaluative report should be delivered inclusive of recommendations to inform ongoing disaster programming in Tonga through the churches.
