About the Company

RFM manages approximately $2.0 billion of agricultural assets on behalf of retail and institutional investors. RFM has a depth of experience accumulated over 25 years owning, developing and operating Australian farmland, agricultural infrastructure and other assets. Sector experience includes almonds, poultry, macadamias, cattle, cropping, viticulture and water. Assets are located throughout New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Victoria.

About the opportunity

This is a newly created position, and we are looking for a Safety Officer ideally based in, or near Rockhampton or Emerald with regular travel to our properties throughout both areas. If you are passionate about agriculture, have a strong interest in supporting our farming teams to work safely and don’t mind getting your hands dirty from time to time, this role may suit you. We are seeking someone:

Reporting to the Safety Manager you will be responsible for:

  • monitoring Work Health and Safety performance and incidents, including compliance with regulations, standards, policies, and procedures
  • providing safety advice, alerts, and support to all business units
  • undertaking internal reviews of operational WHS compliance, reporting non-compliances to the Safety Manager
  • undertaking visual environmental compliance, reporting non-compliances to the Engineering and Development Manager
  • promoting and support the development of a safety excellence culture
  • assisting with researching, drafting, and developing easily understood and practical WHSE policies, WHS action plans, safe operating procedures, and other safety processes
  • supporting and participate in risk identification, control, and management processes
  • assisting with implementing corrective actions and audit findings. This may involve hands-on work and include erecting signs, installing equipment, establishing registers, procurement of supplies, coordination and/or engagement of suppliers/maintenance etc.
  • assisting operational managers with establishing and implementing safety requirements for all properties (new and existing)
  • coaching, participating in, and/or leading incident investigation and incident reporting
  • assisting with developing and delivering safety related training as required
  • monitoring employee wellbeing and behaviour, identifying potential solutions and notifying the Safety Manager or National Manager - People and Safety where concerns are noted
  • promoting, supporting, and monitoring contractor onboarding, insurances and required licensing in Safe Ag
  • overseeing return-to-work activities for injured/ill employees liaising within your region liaising with payroll to ensure payments are processed accurately
  • assisting with system administration of Safe Ag
  • developing and working closely with external consultants and advisers to build effective working relationships


Requirements

The following criteria are essential to be successful in this position:

  • current drivers' licence and your own vehicle
  • minimum Certificate IV Workplace Health and Safety or other relevant tertiary qualification/s
  • BSBWHS417 Assist with managing WHS implications of return to work
  • working knowledge of WHS systems and processes
  • working knowledge of MS Suite and strong computer literacy
  • demonstrated experience in a similar or related role
  • knowledge of agribusiness operations highly regarded
  • ability to work autonomously
  • methodical, logical and practical working approach
  • strong written and verbal communication skills combined with professional presentation and persuasion skills
  • excellent attention to detail
  • strong organisation and time management skills

Benefits

On offer for the successful candidate is a base salary between $75,000 $100,000 p.a. dependant on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in the
