Job Description

DKG is looking for a Business Development Manager who will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract new clients and grow existing business. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of strong sales, marketing, negotiation, and communication skills alongside a deep knowledge of the insurance industry.

You will be expected to identify potential target markets and build great relationships with customers and strategic partners. You will need to develop and deliver effective sales presentations, understand client needs, define and successfully take to market insurance programs, and ensure customer satisfaction. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing long-term strategies that focus on increasing company market share.

Overall, the Business Development Manager will be a key leader in driving growth for our insurance broking business through the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities and strategic partnerships. This person will play a vital role in shaping the future direction of the business and will be instrumental in driving its success.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Develop and implement a business development strategy that aligns with the overall goals and objectives of the insurance broking business.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients and partners, and to evaluate the feasibility of pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Develop and present business proposals and pitches to potential clients and partners, in order to secure new business and strategic partnerships.
  • Manage and motivate the business development team, providing guidance, support, and direction as needed.
  • Monitor and report on the progress and effectiveness of the business development strategy, and make adjustments as necessary to ensure that goals are being met.
  • Develop and implement a handover process to ensure a smooth and successful transfer to the Service Team; providing thorough information, communicating regularly and transparently, and offering ongoing guidance and support, ensuring the Team is well-prepared to provide high-quality service to the new clients or partners.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Tier 1 General Insurance
  • Diploma of Insurance Broking (Preferred)

Experience

  • 5 years’ experience in Insurance Broking
  • Demonstrated success in a similar role within the Insurance industry

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the insurance broking industry and market, with an understanding of the competitive landscape and current trends.

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with potential clients and partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate potential business opportunities and make informed decisions.
  • A commitment to upholding the NIBA code of practice values, including integrity, professionalism, and ethical behaviour.
