About the Role

  • Full time permanent position
  • Classification: Corporate Support Services Level 5 with a salary range of $97,059 - $99,195 per annum + Superannuation and NFP salary packaging
  • Meaningful contribution to the mental health sector within a supportive and values-based organisation

Overview of the position

The Senior Legal Counsel will make an exciting contribution to the support functions of Neami, one of Australia’s largest community-based mental health providers. Providing solution-based advice on a wide range of legal matters, across multiple jurisdictions. The person filling the role will work flexibly in a changing environment and demonstrate high level analytical and problem-solving skills.

The Senior Legal Counsel will enjoy interacting and collaborating with all levels of internal and external stakeholders to ensure a legally compliant, safe and quality focussed service is delivered. Other team members include the General Counsel amp; Company Secretary, Senior Legal Counsel, Risk and Assurance Lead, and Executive Assistant amp; Board Secretary. From time to time the team hosts Practical Legal Training students.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Tertiary qualifications in law and admitted to practice as an Australian Legal Practitioner.
  • Demonstrated experience in corporate and commercial law, as well as experience in other relevant areas of law such as privacy.
  • Outstanding ability to write with brevity, simplicity, and clarity to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a wide variety of non-legal audiences (Senior Management, service delivery staff, Head Office departments, the Board), together with strong negotiation skills.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills including managing competing priorities, setting, and maintaining deadlines.

Mandatory role requirements:

  • Neami National will require, as part of our conditions of employment, that all candidates applying for any position must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (have received three doses), (or have received two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine and have a scheduled appointment to receive their third dose.) and provide appropriate evidence of COVID-19 vaccination to Neami National.
