About BlueRock Law

As a Property Lawyer within a modern multi-disciplinary professional services firm, you will be collaborating with a variety of experienced accountants, financial planners and brokers. Day to day support is provided by an executive leadership team and corporate services staff as part of a dynamic, fun Melbourne CBD office. Our property clients range from large multi-nationals to successful family-owned business, well-known franchisors, and scale-ups across diverse industry sectors from retail chains to international brands.

About the role

Our growing Law team is looking for an Associate with a minimum of 2 5 years PAE in property law, with a focus on leasing. This is a perfect opportunity for a commercially minded Property/Leasing Lawyer, who enjoys an autonomous environment with a strong, positive and fun team culture. You’re analytical, results-driven, and have high attention to detail. You are someone who demonstrates honesty and integrity, and always looks at ways to go the extra mile or solve that pesky problem.

What you'll be doing

  • Working closely with the Head of our Property Law Team, providing them with strong support in the running of property and leasing matters for clients
  • Drafting and advising on leases, including Agreements for lease, fit-out deeds, subleases, lease assignments, surrenders, default notices, terminations, exercise of options and rent reviews, negotiate lease terms, and identifying appropriate amendments
  • Using your working knowledge of the national Retail legislative framework to draft and advise on lease documentation (acting for both tenants and landlords)
  • Acting for some of Australia’s leading retail brands, property companies, developers, family-owned businesses, retail chains and international brands, as well as numerous start-up businesses

Requirements

We want to hear from people who have:

  • A minimum of 2 5 years (PAE) of law firm experience (ideally in private practice) in property law with a strong focus on leasing
  • An excellent ability to draft legal documents and correspondence in clear and concise language
  • A high level of initiative and commitment to achieving great outcome
