Job Description

We have an outstanding opportunity for a confident and experienced bookkeeper to join our Finance team.

We are mostly based in Yálla-birr-ang (Collingwood, Melbourne) and we welcome applications from all lands and backgrounds. About the role

We’re looking for someone with sound accounting experience to support our Financial Controller in carrying out the day-to-day financial operations.

Someone who is all about detail and order, who can keep the finance activities running smoothly, support the broader team and will help to further evolve our finance and accounting practices. As this is a new role, we’re looking for someone who has initiative and is comfortable suggesting changes that will improve our accuracy and efficiency.

You might have been supporting finance and accounting operations for a few years or be an experienced bookkeeping or accounting wiz looking for a great, impact-focused place to work.

Your days will be spent:

  • Recording transactions such as incomings and outgoings and posting them to various accounts
  • Reconciling reports to third-party records such as bank statements and online business platforms
  • Producing various financial reports for key stakeholders
  • Reconciling reports to third-party records such as bank statements and online business platforms
  • Interacting with internal and external stakeholders to resolve accounts payable and other finance related issues and provide efficient and timely advice
  • Managing leave requests and processing our fortnightly payroll
  • Assisting our Financial Controller in the preparation of internal financial and management reports

Requirements

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role, with expertise in accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll
  • Knowledge of relevant financial and employment guidelines and regulations
  • Knowledge of financial reporting requirements, policies and procedures
  • High level of proficiency in Excel as well as electronic records systems
  • Experience using Xero, Google Workspace and Slack highly advantageous
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills in diagnosing issues, identifying and implementing effective solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to liaise well with all stakeholders
  • You must be legally able to work in Australia
