Job Description

Your new role

We are looking for a Platform Cloud Engineer who is keen to join our innovative Technology and Transformation team on a 14-month fixed term contract.

As an organisation we have recently implemented a truly cloud-based solution and this role is pivotal in supporting GWA’s digital transformation and is central to managing the direction of the infrastructure underpinning our digital growth.

The purpose of this role is to develop, maintain and support the cloud infrastructure portfolio. As our successful candidate, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical support to ensure a vest practice approach is taken in developing and maintaining the environment
  • Continuous improvement and with the aim of looking to automate everything
  • Eliminating technical debt and streamlining existing processes
  • Evolving the cloud platform offering to ensure services remain current, relevant, and secure
  • Designing and developing resilient and secure consumption patterns for cloud services
  • Engineering to provide hands on development capability for automating Cloud Services, such as Infrastructure and Continuous Delivery pipelines
  • Supporting the cloud team for any high priority issues.

About you

Along with previous experience (2+ years) experience in developing, managing, and supporting corporate Azure environments, you’ll have knowledge and experience in:

  • Public Cloud Computing and a good understanding of the Azure Cloud Platform, and supporting Microsoft technologies.
  • Scripting (e.g., Terraform and PowerShell)
  • Microsoft Azure platform management and optimisation.
  • Configuration Management Automation tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible, Chef, etc)
  • Continuous Integration Servers (e.g., Jenkins, DevOps etc)
  • Server Administration (e.g., Windows Server Editions, Unix, Linux variants)
  • Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, Load Balancing, etc)
  • ITIL practices and principles and previous experience providing L4 support for critical systems
  • The design and delivery of native cloud architectures and patterns
  • Modern cloud technologies and experience in orchestration / automation preferred.

Additional qualifications you will hold to ensure you are the best person for the role include:

  • A qualification in information technology or equivalent
  • Relevant cloud and / or Microsoft certifications
