Job Description
ANZ Bloodstock News is a daily newsletter dedicated to the Australasian breeding and racing industries, published in PDF form online daily by Bloodstock Media Limited, which is part of The Racing Post Group. Bloodstock Media Limited also publishes Asia Bloodstock News, in English and Chinese, on a weekly basis and provides a full range of design and production capabilities for private clients.
The company employs reporters as well as an expanding number of freelance contributors in order to produce not only its daily newsletter, but the new publication Asia Bloodstock News. Members of the Racing Post Bloodstock editorial staff are also able to assist with these duties.
Job Purpose:
This role will be situated in the ANZ Editorial team, working on producing daily high quality Editorial Content, with some time spent on Website Management and Social Media Output. You will form a key part of the ANZ team going forward.
Location: Australia, with some domestic travel (Remote Working)
Key accountabilities:
- Contribute to the Editorial output of ANZ Bloodstock News on a daily basis
- Write news briefs, assist with editing content, proofread daily edition each day
- Build and develop exceptional internal and external relationships with key bloodstock customers and product owners/managers
- Assist with the maintenance of the ANZ website
- Drive social media output and reach to ensure the greatest possible readership of ANZ Bloodstock News content.
- Aim to grow traffic on ANZ Bloodstock News website and subscriptions to the ANZ daily edition.
Requirements
Essential:
- Excellent working knowledge of Australasian racing
- Excellent writing skills
- In-depth knowledge of and interest in bloodstock and pedigrees
- Experience in and contacts in the Australasian horseracing industry
- Impeccable professional discipline
- Excellent working knowledge of websites and social media
Desirable:
- Passion, enthusiasm and ability to work as part of a tight team
- Understanding of ANZ Bloodstock News’ output, style and market position
- Knowledge of marketing and how best to grow engagement across all channels
- Interest in producing top quality editorial content on a daily basis
- Good technical capabilities across multiple channels
- Ability to work efficiently and to tight deadlines on a daily basis
- Thorough awareness and understanding of the bloodstock industry including a good understanding of the bloodstock print and digital advertising marketplace
- Highly motivated, resourceful and committed
- Awareness of industry-related developments and products
- Intuitive, proactive with the ability to manage own workload
- Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and efficiency
- Excellent organisational skills
