Job Description

A picture may be a thousand words, but we've got plenty of those -- we need words! Can you craft a short paragraph to excite? An article that captures the attention of a reader for longer than a TikTok? A 50-character ad that encapsulates everything we're about? We want you!

Why Bluethumb?

Bluethumb is Australia's largest online art marketplace. We were founded in 2012 and represent over 20,000 Australian artists, helping them exhibit, sell their art, and grow their careers. We are a technology company in the arts and have become the leading art platform here by building the best tech we can to help artists move their art from studios to the walls of welcoming homes. We have hundreds of stories where we've helped artists quit their day jobs.

The Role

This is a junior role in the company to support the marketing team on content creation and copywriting. You'll be involved in helping put together everything from our weekly emails that cover online curations or artist interviews, to writing snappy copy for Facebook or Google ads.

It's an exciting role for a self-starter who loves writing about art and wants to work for a company that makes a difference in the lives of Australian artists.

We have offices and galleries in Adelaide and Melbourne but prefer a Melbourne-based team member as most of the marketing team is there and we've got a great office culture with a hybrid working model.

The company is founder-run by brothers George and Ed Hartley. You'll report to the CMO but support members of the marketing team.

Responsibilities
  • Write (and set up) content for weekly emails about art curations provided by the content team
  • Produce ad copy for all digital ads (Google, Facebook, retargeting, etc)
  • Write blog posts, which are typically exhibition-related or artist interviews
  • Assist with PR pitches and media releases
  • Help with copywriting for web pages

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in writing for marketing purposes (i.e. more than creative writing)
  • Experience working in teams and managing your own time
  • Have a love for an active interest in art
  • Favourable: a degree or some study in writing
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • An eye for detail! Spelling, grammar and a way with words.

Benefits

  • Hybrid working option (2 days WFH, 3 days office)
  • Frequent social events (we're a gallery, after all!)
  • Staff discounts on original Australian art
  • Work for a creative start-up that’s growing incredibly fast!
  • Flexible working hours
