We are looking for an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join the team in the lifestyle friendly Brisbane or Sunshine Coast office.

The Role:

This role will be responsible for providing technical leadership and project implementation within the Engineering Discipline in the field of Geotechnical Engineering. The role will have a business development component, including client relationship management and leading proposals. This role will also involve mentoring, coaching and developing team members.

Key Responsibilities:

The Principal Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • Business Development amp; Client Relationship Management working closely with Strategic Business Development Director.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality.
  • Mentoring, coaching and development of team members, both technically and in terms of good consulting skills.
  • Clear briefs, time allocation and timelines are obtained or defined and agreed for each work assignment or package.
  • Communication with the team is open and effective.
  • Ensure technical and financial performance is achieved.
  • Prepare and update project plans.
  • Assist other Project Directors, Project Managers and site staff with site evaluations.
  • Client liaison and coordination including reports on progress.
  • Assist in effective problem solving to provide effective client solutions.
  • Provide input into the preparation of work proposals.
  • Actively participate in the Engineering Discipline, providing technical guidance and mentoring to staff as required.
  • Carry out engineering investigations and analysis including data collection and verification.
  • Accurate calculations and high-quality analysis of results, including cost estimation preparation of work specifications.
  • Prepare reports.
  • Produce high quality preliminary and detailed designs.
  • Provide input to the preparations of drawings by draftspersons and conduct engineering reviews of drawings.
  • Compliance with the relevant Health amp; Safety and Quality Management System procedures

Requirements

Qualification, Skills amp; Personal Attributes Required:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Professional Membership+ Chartership
  • 15+ years’ Geotechnical Engineering experience
  • Sound understanding of the relevant standards, including AS3798 and AS1289
  • Sound understanding of current and developing earthworks practices
  • Sound understanding of local geology and associated earthworks issues
  • Understanding of key client drivers, and the principles of business development
  • Analytical thinking technical knowledge and mathematical accuracy
  • Committed to the development of junior team members
  • Ability to work to deadlines and budget constraints
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Personable - has built great relationships with clients and other stakeholders in the past
  • Team player and empathetic to other’s needs
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined
  • Proactive and enthusiastic
