What’s the opportunity?
As Senior Tech Lead, you will play a critical role in turning our product vision into reality. Likely working mostly from home at first, you’ll join an enthusiastic and experienced Product, Design amp; Engineering team in our India region.
You’ll work across product and engineering with guidance from our Software Architect, to establish contemporary systems architectures that are highly scalable, durable, and based on current best practices.

We’re looking for someone to join our team in embedding product architecture into our day-to-day product development practice, ensuring that all new initiatives are designed with customer needs in mind from the start, and considering not only where we want to be but how we will get there.
Our product is written mainly in Java and ReactJS, and runs on AWS across multiple regions. We use tools like Docker and Buildkite and deploy our systems. We’re looking for someone to help us evolve how our systems hang together while we grow our team and capability.
What will I be doing?
- Creating change in a complex system. Make well-considered recommendations around patterns, principals, and tools, thinking through and mitigating for potential cascading impacts of recommended changes.
- Acting as a trusted advisor. Partner with Product Managers, engineers and customer-facing teams to negotiate appropriate product architectures with consideration for user needs, business goals and technology constraints.
- Designing well-architected systems. Understand and contribute to our product source code and infrastructure, but know when to step back to focus on architecture and design within your stream(s) of work.
- Designing holistically, delivering iteratively. Break down system-wide architecture recommendations into small, intelligently planned increments for delivery.
- Advocate for technology needs. Translate technology risk into opportunity during product and technology roadmap discussions and advise on the required areas of focus.
- Coach and mentor. Thoughtfully work with the teams around you and assist with career development of less experienced staff on our teams.
Requirements
8+ years experience with 3-4 years of those as a practising tech lead
Demonstrated experience leading the architecture design of complex systems, with a focus on Java amp; AWS software architecture, preferably in a B2B or enterprise context
Highly effective at communicating, and comfortable whiteboarding architecture ideas with teams of engineers, product managers, and other contributors
Excellent understanding of the Java programming language and frameworks such as Spring amp; SpringBoot
Good understanding of ReactJS and front-end performance optimisation
Excellent understanding of database design using a variety of database technologies
Good knowledge of AWS services, design patterns and practices
Desire to challenge the status quo and maturity to know when to compromise
Respect for and ability to collaborate and influence team members from all disciplines and at all levels throughout the business
