Your new role

We are looking for a State Field Sales Manager to join our Sales team based in South Melbourne.

Reporting to the State Operations Manager, this is a key role in our business. As our successful candidate you will provideoutstanding leadership, mentoring and coaching to our Traditional Merchant Sales Team with the specific goals of driving increased accountability levels, higher customer satisfaction levels and achieving monthly and annual budgeted sales targets.

In this varied role you can expect to have responsibility for:

  • Developing and nurturing the ongoing growth of close business relationships with all significant AA and A traditional merchant accounts to ensure consistent and long-term growth in the channel
  • Achieving all set sales targets as specified by GWA Australia for each individual sales territory within the State
  • Weekly sales updates to the State Operations Manager, reporting on all key leading and lagging sales indicators, progress against monthly sales targets for the team and future actions
  • Identifying prospective clients and once established, building these into the normal call cycle program
  • Evaluating and actioning display and point of sale requirements and updates in stores
  • Providing professional leadership, mentoring and support for the team, creating and ensuring their key objectives are attained, accountability levels increased, and behaviours reflects GWA’s values and culture
  • Creating, implementing and maintaining a territory plan for team members ensuring all customers are adequately represented and that all AA and A customers have fully completed account plans to drive sustained sales growth
  • Regularly liaising with major AA and A customers regarding GWA’s performance, products and services and recommending and assisting in implementing appropriate changes in GWA’s systems to better serve these clients
  • Liaising with State Operations Manager and the Marketing team regarding potential and profitable marketing opportunities
  • Assisting in the selection, coaching and development of the team, and capably managing daily activities to successfully deliver the business requirements

About you

Alongside a minimum 5-10 years of experience as a Sales professional (including minimum 3 years as a State Sales Manager), our ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Marketing/Sales) or Business or equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation
  • Proven track record/sales experience with key international or local retailers. Channel partner management experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of and skills in applying the principles and processes in developing and implementing sales strategies and techniques
  • Strong familiarity with the application of the principles of strategic account management for mutual business benefit.
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to analyse historical implementations and develop new strategies, tactics and initiatives to drive further growth.
  • Demonstrable negotiation, presentation and people leadership skills, and sound financial amp; business acumen

Experience with Merchants and/or Trade Marketing is desirable, as is a Postgraduate/Master’s degree or MBA in a relevant area.
