Our Rail Division, previously known as Great Southern Rail (GSR) operates Australia’s iconic rail journeys, The Ghan, Indian Pacific, The Overland and our new addition to the fleet the Great Southern from Adelaide to Brisbane.
There are very few global journeys considered national treasures, but our trains are, without question, iconic Australian experiences. From the moment our guests (and potentially you!) step aboard these legendary trains, you can feel it a spirit of adventure and a sense of something very special about to unfold.
ABOUT THE ROLE

What will you be doing?
Your primary job is ensure each and every guest has an experience of a lifetime. Together you will share special places and create lasting memoires. Your days might include:
- A la carte restaurant service;
- Bar and lounge service including table service;
- Housekeeping on-train carriages;
- Luggage handling;
- Concierge services at each arriving and departing terminal; and
- Act as a host for guests on off-train excursions.
These positions are physically demanding and will require you to work on your feet for long periods of time. You will also be required to work away from home for up to 7 days at a time.
This is a unique opportunity for passionate, high quality hospitality professionals to join our train family and create and deliver the highest standard for food, service and hospitality for our guests. Who you are is important to us we want you to be yourself, genuine, personable and be able to demonstrate your hospitality skills to the highest standards. Not everyone will have what it takes to rock that Akubra!!
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Be passionate about the hospitality industry with a real commitment to delivering the best standards of customer service
- Know your stuff, you’ve had fine dining or a la carte experience, been recognised for your strengths in guest service you see everything thru a guest centric lens
- Have an energy that’s dynamic and you have fun when you work your smile will say it all
- Show a commitment to our luxury brand
- Have all the safety things we need too like an RSA and a Senior first aid certificate (or willing to obtain)
