About the role
Our mission is to make work easier and more valuable, for everyone. We're also committed to compliant remote work as one of our long-term policies. We’re seeking a Senior Employment Counsel to lead, build on and evolve this strategy.
Reporting to the Head of Legal, you'll partner with key stakeholders across our Product, Technology and Customer Experience teams to innovate our platform and ensure that all of our workplace and employment law educational collateral is compliant.
We're known for taking an innovative approach to work and service and a strong commitment to thought leadership. You will have the opportunity to take the lead in addressing critical issues at the intersection of the law and people management technology. You'll be accountable for leveraging good judgement and a strong business sense to assist our teams in developing thoughtful strategies towards product development while assessing and mitigating legal risk.

Responsibilities
- Develop and govern our global employment law strategy and approach to making employment as easy as possible for small-to-medium businesses, across all of the jurisdictions in which we operate (Australia; New Zealand; SE Asia and the United Kingdom)
- Partner with our Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder to make employment law as simple and accessible as possible, through technology solutions and innovation
- Collaborate with our Chief Experience Officer to ensure employment law educational content, collateral, and templates (contract, policies and guides) are compliant and regularly audited and updated in all the jurisdictions in which we operate
- Work closely with our Chief People officer to drive company-wide upskilling of our people managers
- Provide employment law training to the business and develop employment law related content in the form of a knowledge base or guides
- Manage employment relations or workplace disputes and matters in tribunals
- Play a critical role in furthering our Global Teams service, providing ad hoc advice in relation to employment relations laws or regulations
- Be a thought leader and subject matter expert - representing Employment Hero on Webinars as our employment law expert
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor admitted to practice law in Australia (NZ, UK or other foreign jurisdictions will be considered a bonus)
- 3-5 years PAE working in either a top tier firm, mid tier firm or relevant in-house roles
- Knowledge of employment laws and industrial relations in Australia and New Zealand
- Experience of SE Asia and the United Kingdom laws
- Ability to translate legal advice into practical guidance for fast-paced product teams
- Exceptional critical thinking and problem solving skills
