Northern Star are seeking motivated engineers to fill our Senior Planning role at our Kalgoorlie Operations.
This role is offered as FIFO from Perth, WA to Kalgoorlie - Boulder, working a 4/3 roster, 12hr day only a 30 minute drive from your accommodation! A residential opportunity is also available.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Undertake all planning activities incorporating short, medium and long-term planning requirements.
- Contribute to the Underground Team to deliver monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts and mining schedules.
- Develop, compare, and rank multiple mining strategies with assistance from geology, and geotechnical departments and direction of Planning Superintendent. Mining schedules are to be produced in accordance with each strategy.
- Complete Ore Reserve Estimations in accordance with JORC code definitions.
- Ensure integrity and security of all data stored on the Deswik mine planning systems.
- Undertake mine designs and perform financial evaluations for geological block models.
- Oversee and review all mine designs developed within the Planning Department. All designs to be completed in Deswik software suite.
- Update all mining costs quarterly, in line with actuals on a 12-month rolling average.
- Develop cut-off grades quarterly, based on various gold prices.
- Training of others in the engineering departments as required.
Required skills and experience:
- Qualified Mining Engineer
- 5 years’ relevant experience in the mining industry
- Underground production and planning experience with mining technology and heavy production equipment in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine.
- Significant experience in all planning processes, from long to short term.
- Experience and knowledge of various mining methods.
- Detailed knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act amp; Regulations.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
- Competent in the use of mine planning and design software Deswik.CAD and Deswik/Sched packages
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
