What’s the opportunity?
You will play a key role in Performio’s cloud capability. You’ll join an enthusiastic and experienced Product, Engineering and Design team based out of our Melbourne office. Working in our Platform stream, you’ll roll out highly scalable, resilient, and well-architected systems that are used to run and support our delivery teams, applications and services.

We’re looking for someone to join our team to continue building out our devops practice, ensuring that all new initiatives are designed with customer needs in mind from the start, and considering not only where we want to be but how we will get there.
What will I be doing?
- Modernising our cloud architecture. Use best practice to modernise our infrastructure-as-code strategy, and design and build new cloud systems as required by our Platform roadmap.
- Enabling others by building the right tools. This means building pipelines, automation and tools so that teams can get what they want done themselves in a controlled, secure, and predictable way.
- Getting our code into production faster. We run our CI on BuildKite. You’ll develop and document some of our BuildKite pipelines, and facilitate the continuous delivery of our apps and services into production.
- Supporting our systems. Respond alongside support for our cloud systems when things go belly-up, and enhance our observability capability so we get alerted at the right times.
- Designing holistically, delivering iteratively. Break down system-wide architectures into small, intelligently planned increments for delivery.
Requirements
The skills we’re looking for
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing well-architected cloud-computing systems for medium to large scale deployments
- Good knowledge of AWS services, design patterns and practices
- A proven ability to troubleshoot and debug issues in AWS environments
- Excellent linux administration skills
- Experience using docker at all stages of the SDLC
- A mindset of continuous improvement
- Experience operating or supporting production SQL databases
- A basic understanding of how Java Virtual Machines run in production environments
- Proven experience in at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Go, Ruby, Javascript )
- A ‘security first’ mindset and good knowledge of cloud security and organisational security practices
