Engineering Manager M4
Hybrid - Sydney
If you are a new engineering manager, a seasoned one, or thinking about what it takes to become one, please read on.
Our engineering managers have a lot in common with our lead engineers. They are also hands-on managers that ensure their teams are peak performing and deliver on company goals. The key difference is that engineering managers are generalists rather than specialist managers. They are also accountable for a squad that consists of engineers with multiple disciplines (such as frontend developers, backend developers, and test engineers). They can coordinate the delivery of their squad to ensure that work is planned well and delivered at high quality, on time and on budget.
To be a successful engineering manager, you should live and breathe career progression for your team and direct reports. There will be occasions where you need to get your hands dirty, though this is dependent on the needs of the team. You won’t be operating alone, you’ll be reporting to a Head of Engineering and will receive support from other senior engineering leaders globally. You’ll also work alongside our Product Managers to ensure that the team you are responsible for is in a healthy state.
