The Position

Melba has an opportunity for an experienced House Supervisor to join our dynamic and enthusiastic team committed to ensuring everyone has a right to live a fabulous life. You will be considered a skilled and experienced member of your team with both direct support work responsibilities and practice support and supervision of other team members. You will be available to work a four-week roster that includes a mix of morning , evening and weekend shifts.

What You’ll Do

  • Supervise the operations of a NDIS funded Supported Independent Living (SIL) service with regular reporting to Manager
  • Lead and plan support for people with disabilities within their home and community, based on the goals of individual support plans
  • Support initiatives that allow for individual choice, control and independence within their shared home environment
  • Advocate within the broader community for inclusion, participation, and respect for rights for supported people
  • Convey information to people supported and their families to help meet daily needs and plan support for future requirements
  • Manage all aspects of team performance including rosters, performance management, records management, quality, and compliance
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with a range of external parties and health providers
  • Administer medication treatments, therapies or seek assistance according to protocols
  • Develop and maintain team morale and effectiveness and provide day-to-day mentoring and best practice knowledge with staffing team

Our Ideal Candidate

You are a natural leader who can think outside the box, has an open mind, is adaptable, flexible, empathetic, mature and has the capacity to deal with unexpected or challenging situations. You are a quick learner with strong interpersonal and communication skills and pride yourself on providing exceptional service and support to all stakeholders.

  • Must hold a Certificate IV in Disability or other qualification recognised as equivalent
  • Experience and knowledge in the field of disability and ability to apply policies and processes to meet challenges of known or evolving disability support situations
  • Specialised and contemporary understanding of disability and an ability to apply this this theoretical knowledge to client support
  • Understanding and familiarity with NDIS funding and planning processes
  • Strong understanding of person-centred active support, positive behaviour support and its implementation within a diverse team
  • Passionate about supporting people with mental health and intellectual disability
  • Knowledge of and skill with coaching, supervision, and planning practices
  • Knowledge of complex conditions that impact on disability and the capacity to remain up to date with related developments
  • Competencies using Microsoft Office software programs

  • NDIS worker screening Check
  • Working With Children Check
  • Current unrestricted Australian Driver’s License
  • COVID 19 Vaccination Certificate with evidence of 3 doses
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
