The MoodleCloud ecosystem runs a significant proportion of the world’s registered Moodle sites, and is central to the growth strategy for the organisation over the coming years. The MoodleCloud product is nearing our seventh year of rapid adoption and is uniquely placed to grow in both diversity of offering and market reach, creating opportunities for you to learn and grow at every turn.

What your new job can look like

With the pace of Moodle, no two days will ever be the same! But most days will involve a mix of:

  • Working within a small agile team
  • Writing PHP and JavaScript code to help build and maintain our front-end site
  • Collaborate with Moodle LMS team on MoodleCloud-related issues
  • Sometimes dig into Moodle code, AWS cloud infrastructure and PostgreSQL databases to improve performance, help diagnose and fix issues, and recommend improvements
  • Collaborate with the team in improving our Python back-end code
  • Collaborating closely with teammates to implement new features for MoodleCloud
  • Working on a product that directly generates revenue for an amazing open source project

Requirements

We'd love to meet you

Especially if you can talk to us about your:

  • Proven experience with PHP and Symfony or similar frameworks
  • Friendly, approachable and fun communication style that earns trust and credibility
  • Enthusiasm for both team play and deep dives into solo work
  • Pride in setting realistic targets that you can achieve under pressure
  • Experience working in an organisation where software is the product
  • Experience with high scale, clustered web application infrastructure
  • Experience with Moodle

Technologies you'll work with regularly...

  • PHP, JavaScript, SQL
  • Configuration Management (Chef, Puppet)
  • Source Control (Gitlab)
  • Databases (RDS, PostgreSQL)
