Job Description

Location: Australia, remote

Hours: 15 hours per week, flexible working

Salary: AUD 25 per hour (as an international contractor you will be responsible for your own tax)

Contract:6 months fixed term (with a view to extend)

As a Content Editor for Originals Australia, you will be helping to create an Originals product specifically designed for Australian educators and children. You will edit new story books that are written by our story writers, aimed at Early Years to Year 2 children. In your role as an editor, you will help ensure that the story content and accompanying resources the Content Writers have written is accurate and well written, helping us to deliver high-quality Originals story books to children in Australia. You will also look at the Twinkl Originals product in the UK, reviewing what aspects align for the Australian market, and what aspects might need tweaking, changing, expanding or rewriting to create the best possible product for Australian educators. As part of a scrum team, you will communicate with both other Australian team members as well as team members of the Originals product at Twinkl HQ in Sheffield so we can learn from and help each other.

How you’ll spend your day:

  • Editing story books written for Early Years to Year 2 children;
  • Reviewing and editing content that our Writers have created to ensure it is accurate, well written, suitable for the target year group and providing the correct level of challenge and support;
  • Working and communicating with other team members in a scrum team to achieve sprint goals.

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • Be passionate and have a proven interest in Literacy, Primary English or children’s literature;
  • Have excellent editing skills and/or experience in editing children stories that seek to stimulate children’s learning, imagination and encourage a love of reading;
  • Have knowledge and experience in teaching of the Australian Curriculum in Early Years and Foundation to Year 2;
  • Have excellent spelling, punctuation and grammar skills;
  • Have an exceptional eye for detail;
  • Be able to communicate openly and honestly.

In this role, you will learn:

  • How to edit new story books;
  • The ins and outs of the Originals product and brand in our England market;
  • How to adapt an existing product to fit a new market;
  • How a scrum team works together across different markets and countries.

You’ll work with:

  • The Originals Australia product team, consisting of story writers, story editors, illustrators and designers;
  • Laura Baron-Seaton (Australia Country Manager) Laura leads the Australian team from a strategic, product and marketing perspective in her Country Manager role. She also acts as PO for Originals and Phonics in Australia, and other Australian POs to help push our Australian product forward, stay innovative and listen to what our Aussie customers are wanting.
  • Hannah McNaughton (Originals PO) Hannah is the Product Owner for Originals in England, setting the product vision and development for our Originals story books.

Requirements

Experience:

  • At least 2+ years of experience in teaching of the Australian Curriculum in Early Years and Foundation to Year 2.
  • A passion for children's literature.
