Australia Regulatory Lead

Job Description
As demand for our global open banking platform increases in Australia, we’re looking for an experienced, senior compliance and policy generalist who can help us to build the TrueLayer regulatory program and policy framework in Australia. This is the perfect role for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset. You are comfortable with high-levels of autonomy, and have experience leading compliance and regulatory programs for a high-growth, B2B SaaS company.
In this role, you’ll own the compliance strategy in Australia, working closely with the Head of Australia and counterparts in sales, product and business development. You'll build a deep understanding of the local compliance and regulatory landscape, formulate compliance programs and policies, build our policy and regulatory footprint across the Consumer Data Right and payments regulations and be the first line compliance resource for our broader compliance program. You will work on everything from policy submissions, to agent monitoring, governance, supporting on commercial matters and ultimately helping to shape our future growth plans for the Australian market.
You’ll have plenty of support from your teammates in the global Risk, Compliance, Policy and Legal teams. TrueLayer’s Risk amp; Compliance team are integral to ensuring we implement a robust governance structure as we expand in each market. We count on our Risk amp; Compliance team to assist our product, sales, business operations, and legal teams to ensure TrueLayer meets its legal and regulatory obligations.

In this role, you will:
Policy amp; Regulation
- Work closely with our Head of Australia to build and manage relationships with the Australian regulators
- Attend lobby groups and industry trade organisation meetings representing TrueLayer
- Keep up to date with, and understand, relevant local laws and regulations, and respond to local consultations on these where relevant
- Identify areas within policy that we can take advantage of to develop new products, or work in new jurisdictions
- Prepare submissions to regulators and industry bodies to influence policy agendas
- Liaise with the Global Public Policy function and ensure stakeholders are kept informed of policy developments
Compliance
- Lead, and be the point of call for all product, sales and business operations teams for Australian regulatory matters
- Review and work with our Product Teams to ensure we have product compliance against CDR and AFSL requirements
- Help maintain our compliance monitoring program for appointed Agents
- Manage regulatory reporting to the ACCC, ASIC and other national authorities
- Manage complaints from Australian customers
- Be the first line compliance resource for our broader compliance program
- Scale and build compliance processes for Australia ensuring alignment with risk appetite
- Work closely with the Global Risk and Compliance team and build a culture of compliance within TrueLayer
- Manage and develop relationships with external counsel in collaboration with Legal.
- Oversee intra-group outsourced services are maintained within their SLAs
Requirements
What we need from you:
- Someone who is based in Australia
- 7+ years experience in a regulatory advisory based role or compliance/policy programme role
- Have working knowledge of financial services and payments regulations
- Have experience working with customer facing, and revenue generating teams
- Have experience managing and leading teams
- Experience in delivering compliance or regulatory change projects
- Work cross functionally well, and be adaptable to changing work priorities
