Job Description
We’re looking for a new Insurance Product Manager to join our Revenue Team.
As an Insurance Product Manager, you’ll be the go-to for everything to do with our insurance products and the other products we provide our customers. From product development and onboarding across new markets, to improving and innovating our existing product suite, you’ll play a key role in helping Open achieve its mission of having the fastest insurance, at the best price, for the world.

We are backed by Venture Capital fund Airtree and Hollard, and have raised over $25m to date with significant further funding imminent. We launched in 2016 to build a global, AI-powered platform that makes insurance transparent, less costly and more reliable for consumers. Our consumer brand is Huddle (www.huddle.com.au). We also offer embedded insurance to retail brands and platforms wishing to make it easy for customers to access these products in existing workflows, leveraging AI to present better prices to customers. We work with brands such as Telstra (Australia's largest Telco), and ahm (major Australian health insurer). We operate across Australia, New Zealand and soon the UK.
We are currently a team of 40+ driven people coming from a wide variety of backgrounds from all across the world, and enjoy solving problems that no one else has. We are careful about who we select, ensuring we only choose the best people who can give us an edge over the market. We’re proud of our 100% growth we achieved last year, the way we work across hubs and homes in Australia and NZ, and our ability to create a product that has changed perspectives on insurance. We plan on more than doubling again to 100 employees in FY22.

About the role
Our Revenue Team is responsible for driving initiatives that help us to grow our revenue sustainably and in line with Open’s mission. As an Insurance Product Manager, you’ll join our growing Insurance Product team, reporting directly to the General Manager of Revenue.
You’ll be responsible for all aspects of insurance amp; ancillary product onboarding and management, including:
- working with underwriters across markets to onboard amp; design new insurance product and supplementary products;
- driving feedback loops with customers, partners and other Open teams to continuously improve our products;
- proactively identifying opportunities for product innovations using Open’s technology that reflect Open’s mission;
- managing our existing products, including performance analysis and reporting to stakeholders;
- managing the product documentation, including wording and underwriting rules; and
- working closely with teams across the business to drive improvements for our insurance products.
Requirements
- 3+ years experience in insurance product or underwriting at an insurer, or similar experience managing other financial products at a fintech or other financial services company.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to drive projects across the business to achieve insurance product goals.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to produce reports that analyse product performance and drive product strategy.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing.
- Strong problem-solving and ability to think innovatively.
- Proven ability to develop relationships and foster engagement with key internal and external stakeholders.
- A real self-starter with the ability to set goals and use initiative to achieve them.
- Ability to work collaboratively with functions across the business, including product, engineering, growth and compliance to drive high-quality outcomes.
Location of the role
We have office hubs in Sydney, the Sunshine Coast, Queenstown and Auckland.
It can be beneficial for you to live near one of these locations so you can attend our in-person catch ups, but we’re flexible within Australia and New Zealand for the right person.
