Job Description

We are looking for a Payroll Officer to join our Finance team base at Catch Head Office. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you’ll play an essential part in the end-to-end delivery of Catch’s fortnightly pay run and provide great customer service to all of our employees. You’ll be highly organised, willing to learn and can interpret Awards and able to execute administration/payroll responsibilities to the highest standard.

What you’ll be doing

What does a normal day in the life of a Payroll Officer look like? Well, no 2 days are alike at Catch but you could probably expect your day to include some of the following things:

  • Support the accurate input and administer the end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing prior approval of payment
  • Assist in all key processing functions relating to payment of employees, including the timely entry of new hires, terminations, reconciliations, leave, employment changes, deductions, entitlements, novated leasing, WESAP and Workcover insurance/premiums
  • Provide support in regard to employee issues and ensuring the payroll inbox queries are adequately addressed in a timely manner
  • Support the delivery of HR data and reporting to People and Culture, Finance and Senior Management
  • Support the maintenance, configuration and integration of all systems that impact payroll, time and attendance and any HRIS (Success Factors)
  • Ensure compliance with payroll related legislation and standards
  • Maintain and implement up to date information on changes to payroll and taxation legislation
  • Work with the People and Culture team to review and refine policies and procedures ensuring compliance, consistency, fairness and a progressive work environment

Requirements

  • Business Administration, Finance or similar qualification is desirable
  • Minimum 1-2 year’s payroll experience within a medium to large business
  • Experience using payroll software (Micropay preferred but not essential)
  • Exposure to the General Retail, Storage Services Wholesale and Clerks Private Sector Awards
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Exceptional data accuracy with a strong eye for detail whilst exercising a high level of confidentiality
  • Knowledge of payroll tax, audit and compliance
  • Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Office Skills, particularly in Excel
  • Effective time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to identify areas for improvement and adapt to new tasks
