Financial Accounting Manager

CoinJar is Australia’s longest-running digital currency exchange. An opportunity exists for an experienced Financial Accounting Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast paced environment and will be responsible for timely and accurate reporting deliverables. With offices in Melbourne and London, our international presence will allow you to experience working with multiple currencies, financial instruments and jurisdictions.

As CoinJar’s Financial Accounting Manager, reporting to our General Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

• Completing and managing the month-end close process, ensuring the timely completion of all balance sheet reconciliations, provisions, journals, supporting workpapers and technical review.
• Preparing consolidated management accounts and reporting on financial performance to senior management monthly.
• Preparing consolidated financial statements bi-annually, including Balance Sheet, Pamp;L, Cash Flow Statement and Note Disclosures.
• Owning and managing the Chart of Accounts (COA) and all transactional level processing.
• Managing the group’s accountant/s by reviewing their work for completeness and accuracy, and contributing to their technical development.
• Ensuring the timely lodgement of all monthly and quarterly filings (including PAYG, BAS, payroll tax and VAT returns).
• Coordinating with external tax advisers to prepare and lodge Company Tax Returns for the group entities across Australia and UK.
• Leading the annual Ramp;D Tax Incentive application including coordinating with external advisers and internal Engineering resources throughout the year.
• Liaising with external auditors and leading staff with on site procedures.
• Revising and maintaining a Transfer Pricing Policy between group entities.
• Overseeing payroll across Australia and UK.
• Improving internal accounting processes, implementing controls, and developing new systems as may be required.

Requirements

• Experience in professional services (e.g. external audit), ASX listed, or funds management environment.
• CA or CPA qualified.
• Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards including but not limited to AASB 9 Financial Instruments.
• Strong attention to detail, financial reporting and analytical skills.
• Able to manage your time efficiently and problem solve effectively, with a track record of consistently meeting tight deadlines.
• Experience working in a multi-entity group with experience in managing intercompany accounts.
• Strong communicator and have an ability to communicate across all levels of the business, including remote international teams.
• Prior experience with digital currencies, derivative financial instruments (forward and futures contracts), financial services or fund management will greatly assist you in this role.
