THE CHALLENGE

Reporting to Demyst’s Chief Legal Officer, you will collaborate with team members across the group of companies to execute on product development, new business acquisition, IPO listing and client implementation in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment using your legal/compliance expertise. This is a great opportunity to join a nimble team where you will work on challenging technology and business issues found when dealing with cutting edge technologies.

This role is fully remote.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review and draft a wide range of domestic and cross-border commercial contracts, including non-disclosure agreements, vendor agreements, software license agreements, master services agreements, SaaS agreements, partnership agreements, and data processor agreements
  • Work with the Chief Legal Officer and external counsel to prepare for Demyst’s public offering on the ASX
  • Support Chief Legal Officer in overseeing and implementing company-wide policies and processes
  • Update and maintain internal compliance policies as needed and in partnership with finance/HR/information security
  • Serving as the Company’s DPO (non-GDPR)
  • Support the Chief Legal Officer in all in-house legal matters and document, track and expedite ongoing legal matters
  • Serve as key member of the compliance team, aiding programmatic management of compliance efforts inline with client requirements and relevant regulations
  • Own and maintain the contract management system in conjunction with paralegal/admin assistant
  • Partner with the information security and engineering teams to ensure compliance with data security standards and norms
  • Partner with relevant compliance and risk management team members to implement and maintain KYC/AML process for all third parties

Requirements

  • Law degree from an accredited university or college, with excellent credentials..
  • Licensed to practice law in Australia, New Zealand, the U.S. or other common law jurisdiction
  • Minimum 3 years of post-admission legal experience as a transactional/corporate attorney with at least some time spent working at a law firm.
  • Ability to work as a team player with distributed teams operating in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong knowledge of transactions, banking laws, and data privacy law
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to multitask
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management and organization skills
  • Strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills
  • Background and interest in commercial agreements to drive revenue/business growth in fintech space
  • Proven ability to learn and work with new topics quickly
  • Startup or IPO experience a bonus
  • Experience working with data vendors or in a data-driven environment a bonus
  • Experience working with or within financial institutions, FinTech, SaaS is extremely valuable
