Job Description

Ever wanted to work for a startup with a product that actually helps people and within a team that cares about you? If yes, keep reading!

We at Matrak believe in making construction better through evolving technology and challenging the status quo of the industry. We offer a cloud-based materials and progress tracking platform that creates a collaborative network of stakeholders to ensure efficiency, accountability, and clarity across the supply chain of each construction project. As a well-funded, high-growth startup, we are working with many of the largest players locally and internationally and have become an essential tool for subcontractors and contractors alike.

To continue to secure our place in the market and offer an exceptional experience to our customers, we are looking to add a part-time (3 days a week) Product Copywriter to our talented team. Working between Growth and Product Teams, you will be ensuring that our Knowledge Base is up to scratch and developing content that enables Matrak’s end-use customers to self-support and self-onboard.

This role is also the carrier of the Matrak brand identity and will ensure our product marketing content presents our brand in an accurate and compelling way. As time goes by, you will become the subject matter expert on our buyer personas and build a deep understanding of the end-user experience.

Requirements

You are a strong creative writer but also have a data-driven approach to creating content. You enjoy technical writing but can still maintain brand standards and tone. A bit of a unicorn to be honest.

Day to day you will most likely:

  • Create new articles and update existing ones in order to increase our customer's ability to self-serve
  • Create and maintain our online Knowledge Base and FAQ's
  • Produce technical how-to articles, long-form guides, videos, faqs, and walkthroughs to help our clients better understand and adopt the platform
  • Manage a high volume of day-to-day copy requests
  • Create end-to-end content in-line with Matrak brand, style and tone across our website and digital platforms
  • Apply SEO principles to maximize reach to our target audience
  • Support the Marketing team in the execution of marketing campaigns, with end-to-end digital campaign optimization and testing

You should also have some (preferably all) of these ticked off:

  • Bachelor’s degree in creative writing, journalism, marketing, business
  • 2-4 years of writing experience
  • Basic keyword search knowledge
  • Proficiency in WordPress or other Content Management Software
  • Editorial mindset with an ability to predict audience preferences
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Ability to plan and prioritize effectively, organize tasks and manage competing resources and demands
  • Knows how to work cross-functionally across different stakeholders

Most importantly, we expect everyone at Matrak to have (and use!):

Common sense

Intellectual honesty - this looks like:

  • Looking at challenges as opportunities
  • Being willing to acknowledge and question your own assumptions and biases
  • Experimenting, learning, and iterating
  • Seeing more value in learning than in being right

Passion - whether you're passionate about an aspect of your work, or can talk for hours about why a hotdog is a burger and not a sandwich, this one's a non-negotiable.

Benefits

For a startup, we offer a competitive salary package including share options and real opportunities for career progression. We offer flexible working arrangements and encourage people returning to work to apply. Our hiring decisions are based on the principles of merit and fairness, not your background, identity, gender, or any other factor that isn’t related to your ability to do the job. In terms of leave and other benefits, we offer Birthday, Cultural + Ceremonial Leave, public holiday substitution, paid parental leave, and a bunch of other 'perks' (like pets being included as family members for sick + compassionate leave).

We're passionate about creating an environment where everyone can bring their whole self to work. Our core values guide our culture, so if you are able to Build Connections, Take Ownership, Be Transparent, Be Bold, and Nurture Growth, you'll fit right in.

Please note: applications via our careers page are preferred
