The Head of Learning amp; Development is a critical role in the Phocas global People and Culture team, with a remit to build the capabilities necessary for our workforce to meet current and future business needs and support the growth of our people globally. In this newly created role, your key responsibilities will be to establish the Lamp;D function, create and execute learning and development strategies, programs and plans, identify regional and team learning needs, design and prepare courses and content, source providers, deploy contemporary learning technologies, and of course some hands-on delivery, across a broad range of learning and development needs.
Your day to day will be to:
- Together with the CPO develop and articulate Phocas’ Lamp;D philosophy and strategy
- Work with senior leaders to develop programs, plans and a curriculum that builds the required capabilities and fosters development and growth in all employees globally
- Identify, plan, design/source and oversee the delivery of Lamp;D programs including new employee orientation; software sales, customer service and account management; leadership development; succession planning; career management; interpersonal skills; technical training; and any other organisational development training
- Build and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with key business stakeholders
- Work closely with the Product function to keep Phocas team members up to date on product knowledge
- Develop and/or approve content, methods, and materials for Lamp;D activities and may conduct some courses
- Encourage and demonstrate the need for continuous education and professional development, and the value it provides
This role can be based in our Sydney, Melbourne or Christchurch offices.
Requirements
With experience in the tech sector ideally from a start-up or SaaS business - you have had proven functional leadership experience in a Capability Manager or Lamp;D Manager role, with both strategic and strong hands-on operational responsibility. You have some experience of developing capability in a sales and service organization where a passion for the product and customers is paramount.
You have:
- Experience in supporting a high performance, customer focused and fast paced culture
- Ability to identify business Lamp;D needs and develop strategies and plans to deliver on needs
- Experience of designing, delivering, and implementing training programs
- Business acumen and the ability to provide expert Lamp;D advice and solutions that are commercial and practical
- Previous experience with Learning Management Systems and the development and implementation of e-Learning content, programs and solutions
- Experience managing budgets, software vendors and training provider

With contemporary knowledge of effective learning and development methods and technologies, you are skilled with e-learning platforms and practices.
