Job Description

Payroll Officer

Northern Star is currently seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join the Commercial Department at our world-class Kalgoorlie Operations - KCGM. This position is offered as a 12 month Fixed Term Contract on a 5:2/4:3 roster.

This integral residential position ensures payroll processing activities are undertaken in a timely, accurate manner in accordance with external compliance frameworks and internal Human Resources policies and continuous improvement of KCGM payroll processes.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Provide assistance to Supervisors and members of staff to ensure the resolution of payroll queries in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Provide advice to KCGM employees and Supervisors by providing coaching on key HR and Payroll systems and procedures.
  • Undertake data entry, benefits calculations and payroll balancing on an ongoing basis to ensure the delivery on accurate and timely fortnightly pays to all KCGM employees.
  • Prepare reports and supporting documentation for the payment of taxes, superannuation and other deductions withheld to ensure accurate and timely payments.
  • Assist, in conjunction with the Occupational Health Nurses, workers compensation insurers and HR, with the Payroll aspects of the worker's compensation and salary continuance injury management programs, to conform to corporate and legal compliance requirements.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports relating to payroll matters to meet requests from external auditors, insurance providers and others within KCGM.
  • Assist with the review and update of KCGM payroll procedures, suggesting changes and improvements
  • Other ad hoc administration tasks within the Finance and wider Commercial Department as requested.
  • Comply with all reasonable and lawful instructions that are consistent with your contract of employment.


Requirements

Essential

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a dedicated payroll processing position
  • Attention to detail and problem solving initiative
  • Computer Literacy, including intermediate skills in Excel
  • Year 12 Higher School Certificate or equivalent
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian C Class Drivers Licence.

Preferred

  • Working experience in the use of Pronto, or similar ERP
  • Experience in Salary Packaging
  • Certificate IV in Business Administration, or similar payroll qualification
