About the Role:
The Junior Merchandiser will report directly into the Merchandising amp; Supply Manager role and assist planning, forecasting and mentoring junior members of the team. The Junior Merchandiser will take a strategic approach in driving product range opportunities, improving supplier performance, driving product availability and managing stock levels, and profile, within the targets set.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare reporting and present in weekly and monthly review meetings
- Reviews daily and weekly sales performance and recommends replenishment and pricing actions where required
- As well as being competent in preparing performance reporting will also make recommendations for reporting improvements across the Buying, Merchandise and Supply functions
- Takes a strategic approach in driving the department forward by gaining a strong understanding of key competitors
- Manage order placement and intake to ensure on time product launches and product lead times are adhered to
- Liaise with suppliers and warehouse to ensure an effective landing of stock prioritizing intake where necessary
- Manages slow moving stock and makes recommendations to move it through the business in the most profitable route possible
- Accurately forecasts new product launches to achieve the optimum sell through whilst maintaining high product availability
- Proactively analysis sales data and trends to ensure high customer valued products are always available whilst working within target cover levels
- Keeps strong supplier relationships and communication
- Builds a strong network across the business and in particular Buying and Operations
- Manages the team and deputies for the Merchandising amp; Supply Chain Manager in their absence
- Ad Hoc projects
Requirements
- Commercially astute with an understanding of customer profile, product range and competitors
- A strong leader with the ability to help develop the skills of the Assistants
- Extremely well organized with a keen eye for detail
- Highly numerate and analytical, competent working with large volumes of data, using this to make informed decisions
