Job Description

  • A disability support role with a difference
  • Suit hospitality staff who want to make a switch
  • $37 per hour on weekdays (after induction) and more on weekends

About Us

We’re InLife. A not-for-profit disability support provider that specialises in working with people with frequent and complex support needs, including 24/7 assistance.

We build teams around every client, depending on each person’s needs and preferences. We partner with people with any type of disability who want to live independently in the community (and we love to make that happen!). That’s why our assistants are so important.

Our clients may have physical disability, acquired brain injury, neurological conditions, intellectual disability or autism. We’re honoured that many of our clients rely solely on InLife for their essential support needs. Nobody else. Just us.

The Role

We’re delighted to have been chosen by residents of a new development at West Melbourne to provide a 24/7 on-site concierge service. This isn’t your traditional concierge role - but the commitment to great service is!

We’re supporting people with disabilities to live independently. The residents who chose us already have primary providers to assist with daily needs, such as personal care and enjoying the best of city living. We’re there as a back-up, for example when two-people are needed to hoist.

Your daily activities will focus on supporting people to be independent at home. This could include, collecting mail and parcels from downstairs, making a cup of tea, picking up a dropped book, writing a letter, providing assistance to get to the bathroom, or just having a quick chat.

You understand great client service, are keen to work in the disability sector and ideally are described by your friends as a people person.

Requirements

To do a great job, you’ll need:

  • Strong interest in supporting people with disability and a readiness to learn personal care and support skills
  • Experience in hospitality with great customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Available to work rotating shifts mornings, afternoons, nights and overnights for both weekdays and weekends (but don’t worry, we’ll work with you regarding your availability and give you notice of the roster)
  • Experience supporting people with a physical disability, including transfers/use of equipment and confident in hoisting, or willingness to learn (don't worry, we’ll train you)
  • To be willing to work with a care team approach and incorporate the guidance of professionals
  • Good judgement and common sense, listening skills, a willingness to learn and a commitment to our values.

Before we can hire you, you’ll need an NDIS Worker Screening Check. This is a mandatory requirement before you can start work. It came into effect on 1 February 2021. You can use the link below to apply for your check and read more. You’ll also need to have a First Aid/CPR certificate.

  • Opportunity for learning and career progression - a clear career path for those who desire a career in disability
