About the Role

As a Collections Officer in the Legacy Debt team, you will utilise your strong attention to detail and negotiation skills as you contact customers with outstanding matters via telephone. You will need to clearly comprehend the customer's key issues and effectively personalise each conversation in order to drive a satisfactory outcome and provide First Call Resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • The completion of outbound calls regarding collections specific campaigns. Addressing all outstanding matters or those specific to a particular campaign ranging from infringements through to orders and warrants
  • Inform customers of their rights and legal obligations relevant to legislation and policy
  • Communicate observations in a timely manner regarding quality issues, data integrity, customer feedback amp; trends
  • Handling Inbound Collections calls from customers third parties such as Financial Counsellors and Agencies in relation to the issuing of and enquiries related to Collections specific work in accordance with company policies, procedures, legislative requirements and contractual obligations
  • Collate / Check and Issue collections SMS’s in accordance with specific work instructions
  • Use opportunities when speaking with customers to seek upfront payment as a first priority making use of options such as credit card payments and BPAY. Promises to Pay and Payment plans should always be a second and third option.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Negotiation skills The ability to produce desired outcomes from customer interactions by effectively using consequence management and questioning techniques
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and excellent telephone etiquette
  • Strong skills in communication, organisation, data entry and time management
  • Intermediate skills with the MS Office Suite of products.
