Open banking regulations around the world has given us the opportunity to rewire global finance using modern APIs and open architecture opening up access to financial data and creating new ways to pay and verify identity. As the largest player in the UK, we’re now expanding across Europe, America, Australia and rest of the world and we’re rolling out our flagship open banking network to solve deeper, more complex problems for our customers.
We officially launched in Australia in 2020 on the back of strong customer demand and the launch of the Consumer Data Right on 1 July 2020 that powers open banking.
We're looking for an Engineering Lead to join our global engineering team focusing on leading the development of all our Australia products including building our bank integrations, launching our Pay by Bank and Pay Direct products and building new integrations and features. This role has the opportunity to play a critical role in building Australian first to market use cases and products leveraging the support from an experienced global product and engineering team, globally tested uses cases and exceptional clients.

As an Engineering Lead, you will:
- Lead a team of engineers to build new products and features on top of our existing data and payments platform
- Partner up with Product Manager(s) to run product discovery, understand our customers needs and align the team with them
- Be a role model for the rest of the team, fosters a culture of learning and development across the organisation;
- Line manage 3-4 people, coaching and mentoring them to maximise their potential through goal setting and 1:1s
- Own your team hiring pipeline, anticipate and identify hiring needs, participate in both technical and non-technical interviews
- Understand how your product contributes to the overall company strategy and impact
- Embody and promotes our engineering principles and best practices to ensure excellent quality products and services

Requirements
What we need from you:
- You have experience leading, scaling and growing productive engineering teams;
- Proven experience with at least one Object-Oriented Programming language;
- You have a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, with an emphasis on best practices (e.g. testing, observability) and design philosophies (e.g. DDD);
- Significant past hands-on experience as a Backend Engineer and desire to cover a hands-on position
- Solid knowledge of Cloud infrastructure and Cloud-native patterns and experience working with a micro-service architecture/message-based architecture;
- You have a product mindset and are excited by what we are building: you care about customer outcomes and you want to make data-informed decisions;
- Lead by example, and empower your teammates to do their best work;
