Bring your lived experience of mental health issues to contribute positive change across the organisation through an exciting new Peer Work Pilot Program
About the role
- Part Time position (0.7-9 FTE)
- Maximum Term Contract until 30 November 2021
- SCHADS Level 4 + salary packaging up to $15,900+ in tax free pay per FBT year
- Based in Preston
This role has been developed as part of a DHHS Grant-funded project called Peer Workforce Pilot Program. A significant co-design process undertaken in 2020 has seen the development of a Peer Model Framework and distinct Peer Support profiles identified for Me Well to trial in the NDIS context.
As part of this role you will:
- Elevate the voice of lived experience in staff engagement activity
- promote safety and wellbeing and connect people across the organisation
- provide learning and development support focused on wellbeing.
- support staff to feel safe and engaged at their workplace through coaching and mentoring.
- build organisational capacity in the Neami Group Safety and Opportunities Philosophy and Safeguarding Commitments through group engagement activities.
- Promote consumer and staff participation in business improvement initiatives
- Promote the principles and values of the Staff Engagement Framework
Requirements
At Me Well we value lived experience as a ‘specialist’ knowledge base and recognise that not everyone will have obtained formal qualifications. You must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Lived Experience of Mental Ill Health and willingness to proactively use this in the role; AND
- 12 months experience in the Mental Health and/or NDIS sector
- Demonstrated experience in projects, administration, phone-based customer service and stakeholder management
- Candidates who have (or are working towards) either a Cert IV Mental Health Peer Work or Cert IV in Mental Health and Intentional Peer Support Training (or similar) will be highly regarded. A formal qualification for this role is not essential.
You will also need:
- A current police check (within last 6 months) please refer to the position description
- An ‘Employee’ Working with Children Check
- Rights to work in Australia
- Willingness to participate in the NDIS screening process
