Our Corporate Trust division sits within our Certane business and is a respected provider of corporate trust services to the financial services industry in Australia.

As a corporate trustee or custodian we are the legal owner of, or hold security over, assets and financial instruments on behalf of our clients as well as providing administration and agency services.

The Role

We are on the lookout for an Operational Risk amp; Compliance Officer. This role will be responsible for supporting the implementation and execution of 1st Line of Defence, in accordance with the Group Risk Management Framework, for the Corporate Trust (CT) business unit. This role involves driving awareness and effective management of operational risks, compliance requirements and controls, including involvement in business and regulatory initiatives, change management and projects. The role will have a close working relationship with CT management and staff, as well as with second line of defence and audit functions.

The role requires effective engagement and relationship skills to influence and deliver appropriate business solutions whilst ensuring internal policy and external regulatory requirements are satisfied. Some of the key tasks involved may include:

  • Run risk workshops, assessments and reviews for the CT business unit
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to risk and control owners on managing risk and complying with regulatory obligations
  • Support monitoring and assurance of external service providers and clients.
  • Liaise with auditors and external consultants as necessary to improve the effectiveness of operational risk and compliance implementation
  • Assess change initiatives across the business and provide risk management advice to support effective management of delivered risk
  • Liaise with the 2nd line of defence to identify relevant regulatory changes and support timely and effectively implementation
  • Develop outstanding relationships with all stakeholders to collaboratively drive change and deliver value and be an advocate for a positive risk culture
  • Educate and advise stakeholders regarding the development of strong risk and compliance capabilities within the business

Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience in financial services risk and compliance roles.
  • Experience within Custody, Managed Investments and/or Asset Management businesses (preferred)
  • Good understanding of Trustee and AFSL regulatory obligations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of business process, controls and assurance.
