Job Description
Fronditha Care is a not-for-profit organisation providing unique, culturally and linguistically diverse services, offering residential and support services to elderly people of Greek speaking background in Victoria and multilingual background in New South Wales.
Fronditha Care aim to ensure the elderly are able to live in a residential facility or remain at home and be supported by those who share their language, history, religious values, attitudes, rituals, celebrations, music and food. Presently, our Clayton facility is looking for Food Services Assistants with knowledge in European / Greek cuisine to support our elderly in our residential facilities.
The main responsibilities will be, but not limited to:
- Preparing and cooking meals
- Assisting the Cook with the meal planning
- Loading food trolleys and distributing the meals to the residents
- Manually handling supplies and food items in and out of cool room and storage areas
- Washing dishes and cleaning according to the Food Safety Program
- Carry out duties as outlined covered by the Food Safety Program
- Follow OHamp;S practices and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
- Communicate respectfully with all individuals including team members, representatives, staff, volunteers and the community
Requirements
Reporting to the Support Services Coordinator, the successful candidates will possess the following :
- Certificate in Basic Food Safety
- Previous experience in an aged care environment or similar
- Excellent communication, organisational and team work skills
- Empathy with the needs of the frail aged
- Experience with Greek cuisine is highly regarded
Remuneration package is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful applicant/s will also be required to undergo a current police check.
