Open Pit Technical Services Superintendent

Northern Star Resources have a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Open Pit Technical Services Superintendent, to provide Technical Services support and leadership across the areas of planning, void management, communications, spatial guidance, drill and blast, ensuring execution in accordance with legislation, guidelines and planning.

Working a 5:2/4:3 roster, this permanent, Kalgoorlie-based residential role, allows for great work-life balance, and an optimal lifestyle in the Goldfields.

Your main responsibilities may include, but are not limited to;

  • You will be a highly driven individual who is looking to provide positive, strategic and operational leadership, sharing your experience and knowledge, mentoring the team, and allowing for future succession planning.
  • Optimise and ensure the consistent performance across work groups of Planning, Survey, Drill amp; Blast, Voids, and Communications, to meet business plans.
  • Oversee the weekly, monthly and quarterly reconciliation of actual and planned performance. Ensure root causes for variances are investigated. Implement improvement and recovery plans to ensure future compliance to the plan.
  • Manage and deliver the Annual Mine Plan and budget. In addition, manage and deliver the Annual Reserve Mine Plan and Competent Persons Report.
  • Develop technical inputs for the KCGM annual Closure and Reclamation Plan that are aligned with annual business plans.
  • You will display behaviour consistent to our Northern Star Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results, looking to work with the business for the long term and be an integral part in its future growth and development.

The Company

Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum of ten (10) years open pit mine engineering experience.
  • A Degree in Mining Engineering, or relevant discipline.
  • Sound understanding of roles and responsibilities of a Competent Person and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency or exposure working with a range of mine Optimisation, scheduling and design packages.
  • Collaborative and supportive person with demonstrated ability in building, managing and leading diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and influence others.
  • Sound knowledge of the Western Australian Mines Act and Regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop solutions through thinking strategically.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and influence others in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial analysis and cost management.
  • Must reside locally in the Goldfields region, or willing to relocate for residential roles.
  • National Police Clearance (valid within the last 12 months).
  • Current, unencumbered Western Australia C Class, Manual Drivers License.

Preferred

  • Formal leadership / management qualifications.
  • Ability to obtain the Quarry Managers certification.
  • Proficiency or exposure working with a range of mine Optimisation, scheduling and design packages.
