Amiga Engineering Pty Ltd is located in Tullamarine, Victoria, Australia. High quality products are what we manufacture and we proudly support local business. The only one of it's kind in Australia with Metal amp; Polymer 3D Printing, CNC Machining, Industrial Gearboxes and 3D scanning all in the one location.
We are on the hunt for a mechanically-minded individual to join our team as a qualified Fitter and Turner with proven experience who can help in both the CNC Machine shop and industrial gearbox section of the business. We need a self-motivated person with a passion for helping customers.
THE JOB
Reporting to the Production Manager
- CNC and Manual machining of parts and components
- Help in the industrial gearbox section with disassembly and inspection of industrial gearboxes
- Assembly of gearboxes and testing.
- Deburring and cleanup of parts and spray painting units
- Expediting customer orders for gearbox breakdown situations
- Work with other facility teams (Purchasing, Quality, and Engineering) to ensure work flow is efficient
- Build / Assemble by following specifications and bill of material
- Fasten parts together with bolts, screws, circlips, or other fasteners.
- Install moving parts such as shafts, bearings, and work them to test free movement.
- Operate machines to assist in assembly operation.
Requirements
SKILLS amp; EXPERIENCE
Note - this is NOT an apprentice role
- Qualified Fitter amp; Turner or at least a minimum of 2 years experience as a Fitter amp; Turner
- CNC and manual machining capabilities
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Industrial Maintenance is beneficial
- Experience in assembling and disassembling Industrial Gearboxes
- Drill, tap, or ream holes
- Use of hand held power tools
- Use of Mills and Lathes for machining spare parts required
- An understanding of bearings packing bearings, tapered roller bearings and preloads of bearings by use of shims, spacers and dial indicators
- Experience in pressing bearings and gears on and off shafts with an understanding of tolerances
- Computer and technology savvy
- Understanding of Technical and assembly / fitment drawings
- Ability to be flexible and handle multiple tasks
- Ability to interact with other team members and machinists in a professional manner.
- Ability to work in a high paced environment with a passion to learn new things
- Impeccable verbal and written communication skills
- CAD experience and abilities is a bonus
- A positive and can-do attitude is a must
EXTRA INFO FOR YOUR ROLE
- This is a full-time permanent role, starting ASAP
- Monday to Friday, some Saturday work depending on work load. General hours are 7am -3:30pm + opportunity for paid overtime (dependent on work load)
