The Sr. Manager, Service and Make Ready position is a key role in the organization and is responsible for maximizing the efficiency, revenue and productivity of the service and make-ready departments and achieving the highest levels of customer satisfaction. As a member of the management team, the incumbent will collaborate with employees in all departments to improve the overall performance and profitability of the business.Responsibilities:
  • Lead departmental objectives, goal setting and planning
  • Lead engagement planning and budgeting; mobilize and manage teams and define deliverable structure and content
  • Participate in Business Development and develop and maintain contact with stakeholders, organize and lead teams
  • Manage employees work and review work performance
  • Guide and oversee the activities of the shop to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency
  • Create goals and objectives for departments by implementing any policy changes within the company and offering suggestions for change in an effort to create a more productive department
  • Provide training on administrative policies and procedures for all department personnel
  • Perform the role of counselor and coach, provide input and guidance into the staffing process, actively participate in staff recruitment and retention activities, provide leadership and support for teams and staff
  • Encourage technicians to remain up to date on development through periodical technical training on new system components offered by the automotive manufacturers
  • Keep up-to-date on manufacturer warranty and policy procedures while serving as a liaison with the factory representatives
  • Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins and share information with relevant employees
  • Maintain staffing levels for the Service and Make ready team within existing operational framework
  • Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures and metrics are in place and maintained for key activities of the operation
  • All operational activities will be regularly monitored to ensure all business objectives are achieved in a timely and accurate manner
  • Must hold staff accountable for delivering on expectations
  • Achieve and maintain a consistently high degree of customer service and support to ensure dealer satisfaction by developing and implementing process improvements that will reduce costs, increase productivity, improve quality, and/or improve customer service
  • Respond to unexpected events by providing leadership and direction on how best to deal with them to minimize the effect on customer service
  • Publish reports on key metrics, activities, and challenges, and drive corrective actions on any activities that are not meeting expectations
  • Experience delivering end-to-end transformations of workforce programs, services and processes to drive success of organizations and workforces
  • A proven track record of implementing, delivering large projects and communicating effectively at an executive level
  • A proven track record of creating strategic plans designed to drive continual improvements at scale
  • Budget the expenses of the operation and manage to the budget
  • Working knowledge of Service Shop Equipment such as wheel and tire equipment, alignment system, diagnostic equipment, AC equipment and others used for standard repairs
  • Conduct performance evaluations
  • Participate in operational planning
  • Follow all safety policies, operations and practices identified by Vroom
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a complimentary technical field preferred
  • 7+ years work experience in the automotive sector including OEM, Automotive suppliers, wholesalers, distributors, dealers and captives; candidates must demonstrate deep functional and industry expertise in this space
  • 5 years+ people and performance management experience
  • 5 or more years’ experience leading an operational organization in an automotive environment
  • Comfortable working in a diverse group and contributing to an inclusive culture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills both remotely and face to face
  • Proven evidence of success in operational management, operational enhancemen
