Job Description

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking a Senior Medium Term Mine Planning Engineer to join the Mining Technical team in Kalgoorlie.
The Senior Medium Term Planning Engineer is responsible for acting as a liaison across planning horizons, coordinating the development of short to medium term mine plans for the Fimiston Open Pit operations, ensuring conformance with regional and corporate business planning objectives.

This residential role involves working primarily in an office based environment at KCGM's Fimiston site with a roster of 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off, working 9.5 hour days.

Key Accountabilities include, but not limited to:

  • Developing medium term mine plans based on a zero-based approach using Deswik mine planning software in support of business planning and reserve reporting activities.
  • Developing, updating and communicating the 3 monthly medium term plans regularly for the short term planning group.
  • Managing the Mine Project Engineer function to ensure that projects are scoped, developed, and implemented as required by stakeholders in support of the operation’s continuous improvement.
  • Providing monthly planning guidance to Scheduling Engineers.
  • Providing support to Long Term Engineers during budget and reserve planning periods.
  • Reviewing and approving variances to plans as required by the short term engineering to ensure a sound understanding of the incremental value/cost.
  • Preparing or overseeing capital justifications and estimations for the Mining Department to ensure budget inputs reflect forecasts and to maximise the value of current assets.

Requirements

Essential

  • A minimum of five (5) years mine planning experience in an Open Pit environment.
  • Working knowledge of Deswik mine planning and scheduling software.
  • Intermediate knowledge and skills in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Highly developed communication and influencing skills with the ability to liaise with all levels of the organisation.
  • Knowledge of other scheduling software packages.
  • Training and experience in leadership roles.
  • Must reside in the Goldfields for this residential opportunity, or willing to be relocated by KCGM.
  • West Australian "C" Class Manual Licence.

Preferred

  • A Degree in Mining Engineering
  • Working knowledge of Xeras cost model software
  • A Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency or commitment to work towards obtaining.
